Martin Taylor - Senior Building Consultant

Martin has over 35 years experience, within the building sector, from engineer through to Senior Contract Manager on low carbon build projects.

During his career, Martin has developed a good range of skills within this sector, working with low carbon building fabrics such as;

• Structural Integrated Panels
• Timber frames
• Engineered clay blocks
• External Insulation

Building technology such as;

• Solar PV
• Ground and Air source heat pumps
• MVHR
• Underfloor heating

Even with Martins commercial experience, he has been shocked by the amount of bureaucracy involved on his own self-build project before getting to the development stage. The level of detail required exists to ensure that all homes achieve UK building standards and although complex, they are necessary.

The current project, is a former garage site, on which he is building a low carbon Dormer Bungalow. The whole process of taking a project from concept to development has been a complex education, learning some costly mistakes on subjects such as;
